It is generally considered to be the one of the best land-based whale watching destinations in the world. From June to December, the bay becomes the swimming grounds for large numbers of southern right whales and as a result the town is now a bustling, busy location with excellent opportunities to see dolphins, seals, clawless otters and a variety of sea bird life as well as enjoy the various restaurants and shops. 

If you love the outdoors, there are some fantastic cliff-path walks and then afterwards drink away your thirst with some wine tasting. Located within a two hour drive to Cape Town, it’s also perfect for a day trip.
